Intake Appointments/New Visits
A psychologist–patient relationship is established only if we mutually determine that my practice is an appropriate fit for your treatment needs. The intake evaluation is a consultative appointment and does not, by itself, establish a psychologist–patient relationship. If, following the evaluation, it is determined that my practice is not the most suitable setting for your care, I will provide referrals to other qualified providers.
Children/Adolescents:
Parent-only consultation (60 minutes) - During our first meeting, I will meet with you (the parent or caregiver) to gain a thorough understanding of your child's developmental, medical, educational, and emotional history, as well as your current concerns. We'll discuss how these challenges are affecting your child's daily life at home, school, and with peers. This conversation provides the foundation for the evaluation and helps me determine which areas need to be explored further during the assessment process.
Child/teen consultation (60 minutes) - During our second appointment, I will meet individually with your child or teen to learn about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences from their own perspective. This meeting allows me to build rapport while gathering important information about their strengths, challenges, and functioning. Combined with the parent interview, this information helps create a comprehensive understanding of your child and informs my diagnostic impressions and recommendations.
Feedback (60 minutes) - During our third appointment, we will review the results of the evaluation and discuss my clinical impressions, including any diagnoses if applicable. I will explain the findings in clear, understandable language, answer your questions, and provide personalized recommendations for treatment, school supports (when appropriate), and other helpful resources. My goal is to ensure you leave with a clear understanding of the evaluation findings and practical next steps to support your child.
Adults:
Initial consultation (90 minutes) - During our first meeting, I will take the time to understand the history of your concerns and explore how these challenges are impacting your life. This helps us create a solid foundation for effective treatment moving forward.
Feedback (60 minutes) - This visit typically occurs 1-2 weeks after the initial consultation. During this visit, we will carefully review and discuss any diagnoses, providing clear explanations to ensure your full understanding. I will also offer recommendations for treatment options, share resources for further education, and help you gain a deeper understanding of both the diagnosis and the treatment plan moving forward.
