Initial Evaluation & Appointments

Clinical services begin with a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation designed to clarify presenting concerns, distinguish between conditions with overlapping symptoms, and identify factors contributing to a child's difficulties. This process incorporates developmental, medical, educational, and psychological history alongside direct clinical assessment to inform individualized, evidence-based treatment recommendations.

If the evaluation indicates that another provider or level of care would be more appropriate, I will discuss alternative treatment options and provide referrals when suitable resources are available.

Children and Adolescents

1. Parent Clinical Interview (50 minutes)

The evaluation begins with a parent-only clinical interview to obtain a detailed developmental, medical, educational, and psychiatric history. We will explore presenting concerns, symptom progression, previous evaluations and treatment, and the impact of current difficulties on functioning across home, school, and social settings. This appointment establishes the clinical context and guides the subsequent individual evaluation.

2. Child or Adolescent Evaluation (50 minutes)

I will meet individually with your child or adolescent to assess their experiences, symptoms, and functioning from their perspective. This appointment incorporates developmentally appropriate clinical interviewing, behavioral observation, and targeted assessment of relevant psychological processes. Information gathered is integrated with the parent interview to support diagnostic clarification and individualized treatment planning.

3. Parent Feedback Session (50 minutes)

During the final appointment, we will review my clinical findings, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations. I will explain relevant diagnoses, when applicable, discuss factors contributing to or maintaining symptoms, and outline appropriate evidence-based treatment options. Recommendations may also address family involvement, educational considerations, and additional services when indicated.

Adult Services (Available in Limited Circumstances)

1. Initial Clinical Evaluation (90 minutes)

The initial appointment involves a comprehensive clinical interview examining presenting concerns, relevant psychiatric and medical history, previous treatment experiences, and current functioning. This evaluation provides the foundation for diagnostic clarification and individualized treatment recommendations.

2. Feedback Session (50 minutes)

During the feedback appointment, we will review clinical findings, discuss diagnostic impressions when applicable, and consider evidence-based treatment options. Recommendations will be tailored to the individual's presenting concerns, treatment history, and clinical needs.
