Initial Evaluation
The intake evaluation consists of two 60-minute appointments designed to determine whether Parent Management Training (PMT) is an appropriate fit for your family's needs and goals. These appointments are consultative and do not automatically establish an ongoing psychologist-patient relationship.
Parent consultation (60 minutes) - During this appointment, we will discuss your concerns, your child's developmental and behavioral history, current functioning, and how these challenges are affecting your child, your family, and daily life. We will also review any relevant records and previous evaluations as appropriate.
Feedback (60 minutes) - During the feedback appointment, I will share my clinical impressions and recommendations. Together, we will determine whether PMT is the appropriate treatment approach and, if so, collaboratively establish individualized treatment goals.
Parent Management Training (PMT)
Ongoing Therapy Sessions (60 minutes)
Parent Management Training is an evidence-based treatment that teaches caregivers practical strategies to improve child behavior, strengthen parent-child relationships, and increase positive family interactions. PMT is considered one of the most effective treatments for children with ADHD, oppositional behaviors, and other behavioral concerns.
Treatment focuses on coaching parents to use research-supported behavioral strategies while tailoring recommendations to your child's unique strengths, developmental level, temperament, and your family's values and circumstances. Sessions are conducted with parents or caregivers, who learn and practice skills to implement between appointments. Children typically do not attend PMT sessions unless clinically indicated.
